Kevin McAlpine, Lexi’s former caddy and Nordqvist’s husband, has died

Kevin McAlpine, Lexi Thompson’s former caddy and Anna Nordqvist’s ex-husband, died suddenly this week. He was 39.
“We can confirm that Kevin passed away in America,” Hamish McAlpine, Kevin’s father and former soccer star, told The Courier. “We are completely in the dark about what happened. It’s true that he wasn’t feeling well, but we believed he was on the mend.”
“An autopsy is scheduled to take place and at the moment we can say very little about it. We really don’t want to talk about it at this point. As a family we are completely devastated. You can imagine how we feel.” “
McAlpine won the Scottish Amateur in 2006 and played college golf at Colorado State University. He later gave up his professional golf career and worked in sales, but then returned to the sport as a caddy. He landed on Thompson’s schedule in 2017 and they worked together for 18 months.
McAlpine married Nordqvist, a three-time major champion, in 2022. However, Nordqvist announced in August that they were divorcing.
Nordqvist shot a first 69 at this week’s BMW Ladies Championship in Korea, but then withdrew from the event after McAlpine’s death and flew back to the United States.
McAlpine also looped for Amy Yang and fellow Scot Martin Laird.
