Klay Thompson promises no team will want to face healthy Warriors in the playoffs

Klay promises that no team will want to play in playoffs against sane dubs that originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

While the Warriors have stumbled to a mediocre 32-30 record this season, they’re confident they can become NBA champions again.

Golden State has yet to play at the championship level this year, but injuries have a lot to do with it. It’s the Warriors’ constant belief that if they go into the NBA playoffs healthy with everyone, they’ll be the favorites to win it all, regardless of position.

The Warriors jumped from seventh to fifth place in the Western Conference with their 123-105 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday at the Chase Center. They have now won three games in a row and appear to be turning a corner with Steph Curry’s impending return.

After the game, Klay Thompson joined Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and Festus Ezeli on NBC Sports Bay Area’s Warriors Postgame Live and was asked about the momentum the team is building.

“I feel it, yes,” Thompson said. “We all feel it. With 20 games left it’s a great opportunity for us to up our seed, just get into a great rhythm and take on that role [players] are gaining such great experience right now that it will pay off enormously in the playoffs.

“And I promise you, if we’re healthy, no one wants to see us in the postseason. I promise you that.”

Since 2015, when Thompson, Curry and Draymond Green start every game in a playoff series, the Warriors have gone 17-0 in that series, including victories over the Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics last year en route to the NBA Title 2022.

The Warriors know the clock is ticking in their championship window, but as long as their core three are in their prime, the goal will never change.

“We expect to win a championship while we’re here,” Thompson said. “Everything else falls short. This is a special, privileged position. Not many franchises can say that wholeheartedly.”

The Warriors have 20 regular season games to build good playoff habits. If they do, and they’re perfectly healthy, they’ll be a tough team to beat.

Thompson and the rest of the NBA know it.
