Nostalgic sportswear and streetwear brand Mitchell & Ness announced the appointment of Don Crawley, known professionally as Don C, as creative director for premium products. Don C is a notable figure in streetwear culture, founder of the Just Don brand and owner of RSVP Gallery store in Chicago.
This appointment strengthens the existing relationship between Mitchell & Ness and Don C, who first collaborated in 2011 with the release of the luxurious Just Don caps. Since then the two have collaborated on product lines, premium apparel and headwear collections. Don C’s appointment follows significant growth and expansion at Mitchell & Ness. Last year, the company was acquired by global digital sports platform Fanatics and a strategic ownership group made up of prominent names in sports, entertainment and business.

Kohl’s named 30-year retail veteran Dave Alves as president and chief operating officer, reporting to CEO Tom Kingsbury effective April. Alves will be responsible for Kohl’s corporate operations, including its nearly 1,200 stores, global supply chain and distribution centers, real estate portfolio, procurement, sustainability, risk management and compliance functions.
Most recently, Alves was President and Chief Retail Officer of Bealls Retail Group, overseeing all Bealls Stores, Bealls Outlet Stores, Burkes Outlet Stores and Home Centric. Prior to Bealls, Alves held management positions at TJX Canada and TJX Europe, Hudson’s Bay and Sterling Shoes.

Qurate Retail Group has appointed Bill Wafford as its Chief Financial Officer. Wafford has over 25 years of corporate finance, consulting and executive leadership experience in the retail, consumer products and digital commerce sectors. He will report to David Rawlinson II, President and CEO of Qurate Retail, Inc. James Hathaway, who has served as interim CFO since August 2022, will become QVC’s CFO.

Fashion retailer Express announced the resignation of the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Moellering, effective May 5. The company has hired executive search and leadership consultancy Spencer Stuart to conduct an outside search for Moellering’s successor.
Moellering has been with Express since 2003 and was appointed to his current role in September 2019. He was interim CFO from October 2021 to March 2022 and interim CEO and President from January to June 2019; was appointed COO in 2011 and previously served as CAO and CFO from 2009 to 2011 and as CFO from 2007 to 2009. He was a key member of the executive team that took the company public in May 2010.

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) announced the renewal of leadership of its Board of Directors and the addition of 16 new and re-elected Board members.
The following were confirmed to serve as executive directors of the AAFA Board for the 2023-2024 term: Lululemon Athletica’s Ted Dagnese as Chair, BBC International’s Josue Solano as Vice Chair, Ralph Lauren Corporation’s Halide Alagoz as Secretary, and Katherine Gold von Goldburg as Treasurer .
