A Texas man whose ex-wife alerted federal authorities to his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol after she recognized him from pictures of the riot has been convicted and faces up to 20 years in prison .

Larry Rendall brock, 55, was charged with aggravated obstruction of an official process and five counts of trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was convicted by a senior US district judge on Thursday John D Bates after a bench trial that began on Monday.

The rioters eventually broke into the Capitol, causing Congress to stop confirming the Electoral College’s vote and forcing lawmakers and staff to either evacuate or seek shelter at the site.

Brock entered the Capitol at around 2:24 p.m. wearing a tactical vest and helmet, according to government officials. He went to different areas of the building including the crypt and the rotunda.

While in the rotunda, Brock, who was photographed with a pair of plastic cable ties tied to his waist, apparently “picked up a discarded pair of flexible plastic cuffs and stored them in the building,” according to the Justice Department press release. He had reportedly said he intended to give them to the police but forgot after putting them in his pocket.

Brock also entered the Senate balcony at about 2:43 p.m., the DOJ press release said, before descending the stairs and entering the Senate chamber about five minutes later. He was in the Senate chambers for about five minutes, during which time “rifling through the paperwork on the senators’ desks,” the DOJ said.

Pictures also showed him standing just a few yards from the House Speaker’s office Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), whose husband was recently violently assaulted at their home by a right-wing conspirator who attempted to “kneecap” the speaker himself.

Brock exited the building at around 3:01 p.m., nearly 40 minutes after entering.

Prosecutors found that before Jan. 6, Brock had shared social media posts in which he appeared to have foreseen violence in the nation’s capital.

“I prefer an uprising at this point,” he wrote on December 27, 2020.

“[O]Our second American revolution begins in less than two days,” he wrote on January 5, 2021.

As Law&Crime previously reported, Brock was first reported to federal authorities by his ex-wife, who recognized Brock, a retired US Air Force lieutenant colonel, from images of the violent and chaotic events at the Capitol that day.

Online court records did not show whether Brock was taken into custody following the verdict, and his attorney did not immediately respond to Law&Crime’s request for comment. Brock was previously on release pending trial.
