Last month to claim a one-time direct payment of $500 – see if you qualify for the relief check

LESS than a month leaves thousands of Americans to earn a one-time direct payment of $500.
The Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 was provided by Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Department of Family and Support Services to provide the money to up to 25,500 eligible Chicago residents.
The fund’s total of $14.68 million aims to assist residents who were unable to receive federal assistance in 2020, including the Covid-19 Relief Funds.
To be considered for payment, Chicago residents must submit an online application.
Only one application per household will be accepted and recipients will be selected at random provided they provide proof of eligibility.
When to apply
Applications for the Chicago Resiliency Fund officially opened on October 1, 2022 and close on December 31, 2022.

Additional applications for undocumented migrants and domestic workers will be received at the end of December.
who is eligible
Anyone who filed taxes in 2019 and claimed a dependent 17 years or older can apply during the October 31 and December 31 period.
However, to be fully eligible, you must reside in the city of Chicago and be at least 18 years of age.
Also, your household income must fall to or below 300 percent federal poverty line.
For a household of two, that means you must be making $54,930 or less.
Households of four can earn $83,250 or less to qualify.
How to apply
Chicago residents can apply by going to Fund website and completing an interest form.
You must provide your current address and ID.
If selected, you will be required to provide additional credentials.
You do not have to be a permanent resident or US citizen to apply.
Residents should know if they have been selected for payments within a week of submitting the form.
How to use the money
The City of Chicago has said participants can use the money however they see fit, but there are some exceptions.
Recipients cannot use the money for these things:
- Buy or support anything that would compromise the safety of project recipients and/or other community members
- For fraud or corruption
- For promoting any criminal activity
- In support of organizations or individuals associated with terrorism
Other states offer support
Chicago isn’t the only country providing payments to support residents as they continue to face record-high inflation.
California residents can receive a check for up to $1,050 this month.
This includes people who did not receive their Golden State Stimulus payment due to changes in bank details.
Meanwhile, Colorado residents who filed their tax returns late may be eligible for a payment of $750 if filed individually or $1500 if filed jointly under the Colorado Cash Back program.
Idaho passed legislation in September providing $500 million in tax refunds for full-time Idaho residents.
Idaho residents could receive $300 for individual applicants and $600 for joint applicants.
And in New Jersey, residents who have filed their taxes are entitled to up to $1500.
To qualify, homeowners and renters must have lived in the same location since October 1, 2019.

There is also a one-time relief payment of between $438 and $1,600 for struggling Americans.
