A STUNNING Lamborghini 4×4 goes under the hammer – but many people don’t know it ever existed.

These days most luxury brands have a large SUV, but in the late 1970s it was only Lamborghini that dared to consider one.

In 1977, Lamborghini considered building a fancy 4×4 to sell to the US Army called the LM001, but that plan never materialized.

Lambo went ahead anyway and developed the LM002, which was instead sold to the public as a luxury performance SUV.

Only 300 LM002 were ever made and this one is number 279.

It’s coming up Auction at RM Sotheby’s in Miami and is expected to fetch up to $250,000.

Although this 1991 car is over 30 years old, it has only driven 5,549 miles.

The LM002 is equipped with a massive V12 engine with more than 400 hp and seats four in its leather-clad interior.

In his time he was known as “Rambo Lambo” after Sylvester Stallone reportedly had one for a while.

The ad reads: “While the car’s early history is unknown, there is a decal on the center console depicting the Japan Lamborghini Owner’s Club, indicating that it may have once belonged to a Japanese enthusiast.

“In early 2014, the LM002 was acquired by the consignor, a discerning collector based in Kuwait.

“In 2014 the exhaust system was modified and the exterior was repainted in the car’s current Rosso colour.”
