Police in Co Derry have arrested a 75-year-old man who is due to stand trial in the Republic of Ireland for serious sexual offenses against a child.
The man was arrested on Wednesday by officers from the International Policing Unit in Limavady on an international arrest warrant.
A PSNI spokesman said he would appear before an extradition court in Belfast on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for the PSNI’s International Policing Unit said: “This morning’s arrest is another great example of the continued collaboration between An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit.
“Police will continue to work with our partners and bring offenders to justice.
“Our message is clear that there is no place to hide in Northern Ireland and that we will take active action against any wanted individuals believed to be in this jurisdiction.”
