Man stabbed to death at Toro nightclub in Gaslamp Quarter

SAN DIEGO — A man was stabbed to death at a downtown nightclub Monday, San Diego police said.
According to the SDPD, officers were pulled over at around 12:30 p.m. for a stabbing that had just occurred at the Toro nightclub in the Gaslamp Quarter, 672 Fifth Avenue.
Officers found a 23-year-old man with a stab wound in his abdomen, police said.
Witnesses to the stabbing followed the suspect and alerted officers, who took the man into custody without incident, SDPD Guard Commander Scott Foster said. Police described the suspect as a 21-year-old man.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The victim’s condition is believed to be stabilizing.
The circumstances leading to the stabbing are still under investigation.
