Meta launches paid verification for Facebook and Instagram

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of the company’s Meta Verified on Instagram and Facebook in the United States. The subscription service first launched in Australia and New Zealand earlier this month and adds a blue tick to Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Meta’s experiment in Australia and New Zealand was successful as it increased visibility and range. The price of the service is $11.99 per month on web and $14.99 on mobile, TechCrunch reported.
“You can get a badge, proactive identity protection, and direct access to customer support,” Zuckerberg said on Instagram.

Users 18+ must join the waitlist to register, provide an ID to confirm identity, and complete the verification process. Two-factor authentication is also required.
According to the TechCrunch report, meta-verified subscribers cannot change their profile name, icon, username, and date of birth without completing the verification process again.
Users have access to exclusive stickers on Facebook and Instagram Stories and Facebook Reels, as well as a hundred stars per month on Facebook to support creators.
