Michael Kors co-hosts reception at UN honoring Watch Hunger Stop – WWD

Hot off the heels of his fashion show at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn waterfront on Monday evening, Michael Kors co-hosted a reception at the United Nations for Watch Hunger Stop, a global campaign supporting the United Nations World Food Program for a world without hunger.
Kors co-hosted the event with Cindy McCain, executive director of the WFP. Halle Berry, who joined Kors 10 years ago when Watch Hunger Stop launched, was also on hand to show her continued support.

Other participants included Hayley Atwell, Alina Cho, Valentino Ferrara, Tina Leung, Olivia Perez and Camila Alves.
The evening began with a speech from Kors and McCain in which they recognized WFP’s life-changing work around the world and the 30 million school meals that Watch Hunger Stop has supported in the decade since its founding.
Kors said the company will increase its support for WFP from the annual donation of the equivalent of 3 million meals to 4 million meals starting this year.
This year’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign features Berry and Kate Hudson, another early and strong supporter of the Kors initiative, in images shot by photographer Cliff Watts. Hudson worked at Watch Hunger Stop from 2015 to 2018 before becoming a WFP Goodwill Ambassador herself. Both women have visited WFP-supported communities, Berry traveled to Nicaragua and Hudson to Cambodia.
The Watch Hunger Stop 2023 watch, t-shirt and tote bag will launch on October 1st and will be available online and in select Michael Kors Lifestyle stores worldwide. The special edition watch ($325) features a blue dial with a tonal globe design, while the back is engraved with Kors’ signature and the line “10 Years and Counting” to signify the brand’s commitment to continuing their partnership with WFP. The organic cotton T-shirt ($40) and recycled canvas tote bag ($98) feature the same blue heart graphic and WFP logo. For the sale of each T-shirt, Kors donates 100 meals to WFP and for the sale of each tote bag, the equivalent of 216 meals. For every watch sold, two hundred meals are donated.
