Microsoft is offering billions of Apple fans a massive iPhone upgrade — it’s completely free, but there’s a small catch

MICROSOFT has announced plans to bring a popular Apple feature to its PCs.
On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that it is working on making iMessage run on Windows.
The software would work through the company’s Phone Link app, which allows both Android and iOS users to connect their phones.
“As announced by Panos today, we’re beginning an early preview of Phone Link for iOS on Windows 11 with Windows Insiders,” Microsoft said in a blog entry.
The preview is provided for “Insiders” who have chosen one of the three Insider channels for their device.
You can find this via Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program.

“We’re starting this preview this week with a small percentage of Insiders to begin with, which means not all Insiders will see the preview right away,” Microsoft noted.
“We’ll be increasing the availability of the preview to more Insiders over time and based on the feedback we’re getting with this initial group of Insiders,” the company added.
Preview requires Phone Link app users to have version 1.23012.169.0 and above installed.
BGR reported that those who are part of the preview can send an iMessage from their Windows 11 PC through their iPhone.
However, this software will come with some limitations – for example, users cannot reply to group messages.
They also cannot send photos or videos through their PC or Windows.
Also, the conversation history is not accessible for existing threads.
Microsoft said users will be able to make phone calls and view their contacts, however.
The tool will be game-changing for Windows users who have longed for a system similar to Apple users.
