Milan Fashion Week beauty looks were all about pastel looks – WWD

Free the colors! Makeup artists in Milan played with pastel eyeshadows, liners and mascaras to create delicate but unexpected beauty looks.

At Prada, Pat McGrath delivered the trend most efficiently with a simple gesture. Big on natural beauty and a perfect complexion, she focused on colored feathery lashes to spice things up, shifting from the traditional black and brown tones to a bewitching palette of peaches, periwinkle, mint, rose and ice tones.

At Diesel, Inge Grognard opted for a slightly stronger intensity of pink, green and teal for the eyeshadows, which she dabbed and smudged onto the models’ outer corners, often playing with color blocking or layering them with glitter accents.

At Del Core, the orange peeps were characterized by their extremely elongated shape, while at Cormio, the makeup was reminiscent of the ’90s with light blue eyeshadows on the upper lids and a pink liner that outlines the lower eyelids. Sunnei’s fun show also featured brief pastel looks here and there before the brand’s team, who also doubled as models, staged and crowd-surfed all the attention.

The most exuberant and joyful use of pastels, however, was seen at Shuting Qiu, where makeup artist Simone Gammino unleashed his creativity with naïve color blocking and artful brushstrokes in shades of lime, yellow, baby blue, lilac and pink.

“The brief I was given was to create a matte pastel look that could evoke a girly and almost childish vibe to highlight the textures and color palettes of the collection,” Gammino said. “My personal interpretation of this concept was the idea of ​​makeup that looked like the powdery, colored crayons I drew in elementary school.”

Gammino completed the looks with a raspberry pink blush and pink holographic pigment applied to the cheekbones for an added glow.
