THE Queen’s funeral is taking place today and every element of the service has been carefully chosen by the late monarch.

Plans for her funeral included the order of the service and the music chosen to bid the Queen farewell one last time.

After the homily of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, the choir sings the hymn My Soul, There is a Country in Westminster Abbey.

The Queen is said to have chosen it as “an anthem of great hope,” Buckingham Palace said.

2) Who wrote My Soul, There is a Country?

The song was composed by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, also known as Hubert Parry, who lived from 1848 to 1918.

It features in his Songs of Farewell, a collection of six compositions by the British composer.

The choral pieces written between 1916 and 1918 were among his last before his death.

3) What is who will separate us from the love of Christ?

After the Archbishop of Canterbury’s commendation, the choir will sing another hymn.

This will be a composition based on a few carefully chosen verses from the Bible.

It contains texts from Romans 8:35a and 38b – end.

The choir will sing, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, neither present nor to come, neither height nor depth, nor any other creature shall separate us from the love of God which is in us, Christ Jesus our Lord. Alleluia! Amen.”

Although the text is from the Bible, the hymn music was written by Sir James MacMillan CBE in honor of this service.
