New Alien Movie Sets Production Start Date, Additional Cast Members Revealed

The newest extraterrestrial The film is set to begin production soon, with 20th Century Studios confirming production will begin on March 9 in Budapest.

The film will star Mare of east town‘s Cailee Spaeny alongside David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (shadow and bone), Isabela Merced (Rosaline), Spike Fear (The Batman) and Aileen Wu (Away from home). It is directed by Fede Álvarez and written by Rodo Sayagues, with whom Álvarez has previously worked. The director of the original extraterrestrialRidley Scott, will produce the film alongside Michael Pruss under their Scott Free banner, while Brent O’Connor, Elizabeth Cantillon and Tom Moran will serve as executive producers.

“In this ninth installment in the hugely popular and enduring film series, a group of young people find themselves on a distant world confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” reads the synopsis for the upcoming film.

The new film is said to be “disconnected” from previous films. Álvarez, himself a fan of the iconic franchise, had pitched a movie idea to Scott in a casual chat a few years ago. This eventually led to Scott calling the director to see if he was still interested and it was quickly settled.

20th Century then took up the new extraterrestrial Movie due to the strength of Álvarez’s pitch as according to 20th Century’s Steve Asbell it was a “really good story with a bunch of characters that you’ve never seen before”.
