Nice weather is a blessing for the music at the Intersection Festival

ST. LOUIS – Thousands attended the music at the Intersection Festival on Sunday. Organizers estimate that up to 12,000 people attended the event over the weekend.
Some people have come out for a particular artist.
“Super excited to see Thundercat. For me it’s the musicality of it all and that’s just what I’m looking forward to, hearing a live band and live music and seeing him do his best,” Kayla Gamble said.
Others were there to see the diversity of music at the festival.
“There’s all kinds of music here, everyone enjoys it, it’s a wonderful thing,” Pete Salsich said.
Around 50 artists from all over the world were there and performed on the various stages.
“The intersectionality of our musical heritage. It is the intersection of art and life here in the Grand Center Arts District. It’s the intersection of all this music, the genres and the people. It’s exactly what brings us all together,” said Chris Hansen, executive director of the Kranzberg Arts Foundation.
He said the festival continues to grow every year.
“We always stay rooted in our footprint in the American songbook, telling you where the music is going and how jazz, blues and soul are shaping modern rock and roll, R&B and hip-hop,” Hansen said.
Those who attended the event said part of the fun was meeting new artists and bands they had never heard of before.
“I just sit there and watch all the performances that, you know, I didn’t even know about,” Gamble said. “So it was really nice to find some new bands that I’ll probably look out for in the future and see acts that don’t normally come to the Midwest, which is great too.”
