Nick Bosa hilariously admits he forgot routine after 49ers losses originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
SANTA CLARA – Nick Bosa is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, but the 49ers defensive end joked that he might not have the best memory.
The 49ers have not lost a regular season game since October 23, 2022 or Week 7 of the 2022 season. On Thursday, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year had forgotten the protocol of what the team was going through It’s the first day I’ve come back from defeat.
“It’s been a long time since we lost,” Bosa said Thursday. “Actually, I forgot what the routine is for team meetings and all that stuff. It was hard, we somehow had to eat it for another day. We were a little afraid to come here for meetings.
“Last year we didn’t have one for a long time in the regular season and that happens, so we need to get back on our feet.”
Almost a full calendar year had passed since Bosa back to the team headquarters with one loss in the regular season and even longer since San Francisco had allowed an opponent 150 rushing yards or more.
The 49ers defense, usually stingy when it comes to rushing yards allowed, gave up 160 yards on the ground to the Cleveland Browns. In the last 26 contests, including the playoffs, Bosa and the defense have allowed only eight teams to gain 100 rushing yards or more.
Only the Atlanta Falcons, who gained 168 yards in Week 6 of the 2023 season, and the Browns have gained 150 or more yards in that time.
While the entire 49ers locker room I wasn’t looking forward to watching the game film of their loss to the Browns, they’ve already used the sessions as teaching moments for improvement. The goal is not to make the same mistakes again.
“If you think you played bad, they’re never as bad as you think,” Bosa said. “And if you played great, it’s the same thing – you weren’t as good as you thought you were. It wasn’t quite as bad, but it definitely wasn’t ideal.”
The 49ers have an extra day to prepare for the Minnesota Vikings running game on “Monday Night Football” at US Bank Stadium. Bosa and Co. will work towards a result that will make them forget what happens after a loss in the regular season.
