The chief of a skin care clinic in Antrim, who is charged with violating human drug regulations, is expected to confirm next month whether he will contest the allegations, a judge said Tuesday.
Nick Watkins, from Forthaven in Ballyclare, has been charged with a total of 14 offences.
The 51-year-old was due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court for the first hearing in the case.
However, he did not attend because a defense attorney raised questions about the service of indictment documents.
District Judge George Conner granted an adjournment of four weeks, saying, “As far as I know, this is a significant case and there are many documents yet to be read.”
“But at this point, I actually need to know how the matter is being handled.”
Watkins is reportedly the principal physician at Mac Aesthetics, which is currently based in Glengormley.
The cosmetic clinic offers a range of anti-wrinkle and body contouring treatments. Their website states that they all comply with health, safety and environmental health standards.
Watkins is accused of two counts of advertising prescription drugs, namely Botox and Ozempic, in December last year.
He is also charged with nine counts of possession of medicines with the intention of dispensing them other than by prescription between July and December 2022.
Three other charges in the prosecutor’s subpoena relate to alleged possession of unauthorized drugs.
No further details were given during the brief preliminary hearing.
