Citing the example of formerly left-ruled Tripura, where the BJP won a majority for the second time, the prime minister said the BJP will soon form a government in Kerala as well.

The prime minister was speaking at the BJP headquarters, where the ruling party organized a victory celebration after the results of general elections in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya were announced. The BJP won a clear majority in the 6-member Tripura Assembly with 32 seats.

In Nagaland, the 12-seat BJP and its 25-seat ally Nagaland Democratic Progressive Party are expected to form the government in the 60-strong assembly. In Meghalaya, the Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) has the largest number in the 59-member assembly, with 26 seats. Sangma has already met with the BJP’s Northeast leader and Assam Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and has expressed a willingness to work with anyone who “takes care of the interests of the state”.

But the BJP has proved them all wrong. Dalit and tribal people wholeheartedly support the BJP. But that has been proven wrong in the tribal areas of Gujarat. And now the elections in Goa and the north-eastern states have destroyed this propaganda that the BJP is anti-minority. In Nagaland and Meghalaya, our support is growing,” he said.

“People reject the farce staged by the opposition of being allies in one state and political opponents in another. Even in Kerala, people will see through this congressional and leftist farce. Kerala will also have a BJP government, just like Goa and now Nagaland and Tripura,” Modi said.
