Registration deadline for the Retention Bonus is December 21st.

The one-time bonus applies to “employees of hospitals, hospital-related clinics or nursing facilities and doctors who care for patients in these facilities”. said the California Medical Association.

The California Department of Health Services (DHCS) distributes the bonus payments for healthcare workers.

DHCS has created a two-step process for those who may be eligible and wish to receive the retention bonus, according to the California Medical Association.

Who is Eligible?

California Health care workers had to have worked in a medical facility during the eligibility period from July 30 to October 28, 2022.

To be eligible for the retention bonus, employees must be employed at least part-time during the qualifying period of work and be employed or contracted directly with a qualifying entity.

Even if the employee is no longer employed by the same employer, he is entitled to a retention allowance as long as the minimum qualifications are met and he has worked during the waiting period.

How to apply

The first step in applying is simply for registered doctors to register for the retention payments for Covid-19 healthcare workers with DHCS before December 21.

After registration, you need to apply in the portal that has been open since November 29.

All payment requests must be submitted by December 30th.

The DHCS expects to issue the one-off payments in January 2023.
