It remains to be seen how the ongoing actors’ strike will impact this year’s Gotham Awards. The actors union SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP group, which represents studios and streamers, will meet Tuesday to resume negotiations. But if there isn’t a solution to the strike by the Gotham Awards after Thanksgiving, actors like Cooper and the stars of the top nominees won’t be able to escape One thousand and one And We are all strangers will still not be able to promote projects from troubled Netflix, NBCUniversal’s Focus Features and Disney-owned Searchlight.
Gotham Award nominees are selected by committees of film and television critics, journalists, festival programmers and film curators.
The final winners are determined by separate juries made up of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors and others directly involved in the filmmaking.
Recent Gotham Award winners have included Oscar winners Everything everywhere at once, CODA, Nomadland, Marriage Story, American Factory, Moonlight, Spotlight And Birdman.
