Patrick Mahomes predicts a ‘wild’ week in the NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs have the best player in the NFL. Every year they will reshuffle the different parts around it to reload for another championship run.

This year there will be departures and arrivals. And quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes is ready for it.

NFL is going to be wild this next week!” Mahomes tweeted Sunday afternoon with a trio of popcorn emojis.

The wildness has already begun. Things really get going Monday at 12:01 p.m. ET when teams can talk to agents and strike unofficial deals with upcoming free agents.

The Chiefs have a lot of upcoming free agents. They will also be a magnet for available players.

At the receiver position alone — a pretty important point from the standpoint of the job Mahomes regularly does — the Chiefs have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Justin Watson is ready to hit the market. They recently attended Odell Beckham Jr.’s training session and are believed to be one of several teams interested Allen Lazard.

The challenge is getting new players to take maybe less than they could get elsewhere in hopes of playing with Mahomes and trying to win a championship.

Whatever the changes to the position, it’s a given that Mahomes will do whatever it takes to help them get going. He will be present at off-season training. He takes the recipients to Dallas. He will tell the coaching staff what the new guys are doing well.

And the Chiefs will be ready to hit the ground sprinting as Week One rolls around.
