There’s a secret “floating” version of the Google keyboard that you can move and resize.

This can be extremely handy as you can move it to a better position (and make it very small).

The floating keyboard is one of Android’s best kept secrets.

First, make sure you’re using Gboard, Google’s own keyboard.

Gboard is the default keyboard on many Android devices.

To check, go to Settings > System > Language and input > Manage keyboards and turn on Gboard.

Now open an app you need to tap into.

Once the Gboard keyboard appears, look at the row of icons above the letters.

You’ll see an icon that looks like a small keyboard hovering over a horizontal line. Tip It!

If you can’t see the icon, it may be hidden.

To view it, just tap the white arrow to reveal additional options.

There’s also the three-dot icon that shows all of the available Gboard options.

Once you press the button with the little keyboard above the line, your floating keyboard will be activated.

You’ll immediately see adjustable corners around your keyboard that you can quickly edit to resize the keyboard.

Simply pull in and out on the corners to extend or shrink the keyboard.

You can also use the “Tab” arrow at the bottom of the keyboard to drag it across the screen.

This allows you to place your Gboard keyboard exactly where you want it – and perfectly sized too.

To exit this mode, drag the bottom arrow to the bottom of the screen and release.

This snaps your keyboard back into its normal position.

Once you know this Android hack, you can easily enable it at any time.

It’s not always practical, but it can be very useful.

For example, you might find it handy if you want to use your Android phone with one hand.

By shrinking the keyboard and moving it left or right, you can put it in the ideal position for texting with one hand while holding a coffee or bus strap with the other.

If the feature doesn’t work, make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of Android.
