Peso Pluma threatened by cartel before Tijuana concert

According to several sources, banners threatening Peso Pluma’s death have appeared in Tijuana. The banners were signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and pro The Arizona Republic, they translate as “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14th because because of your disrespect and your loose tongue it will be your last show, you show up and we will (break) you.” “ This comes in advance of Pluma’s show at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana. Accordingly Point NorteA 43-year-old man was arrested in possession of one of the banners.
Peso Pluma ended up in the cartel because of his actions narco corridors, a subgenre of Mexican regional music that depicts the drug trade in its lyrics. Pluma has performed several songs from the perspective of a Sinaloa cartel member. Pluma has not claimed to be a member of the cartel, but has said (according to Pitchfork) that cartels sometimes pay to have songs written in their honor. News of the cartel news broke hours before Peso Pluma’s performance at the 2023 VMAs.
