In the first inning of his first career start with the Chicago Cubs, outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong showed off defense that impressed fans and scouts.
Crow-Armstrong, starting in center field for the Cubs, was tested with a fly ball off the bat of Nolan Jones in the first inning with a runner on base and one out in the first inning.
Jones shot the ball at 107 mph right off the bat, but Crow-Armstrong was up to the task as he made an absolutely insane catch at center field:
According to Statcast, The expected batting average on the fly ball was an astonishing .970, but that didn’t stop Crow-Armstrong from making the play and holding the Rockies scoreless in the first inning of the contest.
Crow-Armstrong was called up by the Cubs before Monday’s game. He made his debut in the contest and was caught stealing third base and throwing a sacrifice bunt. He started Tuesday’s game in midfield, his first since being called up.
