Picard could have played Jake Sisko last season

Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas wanted to include Jake Sisko in the show’s final season.

After two controversial seasons, the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard was a welcome return to form for many fans. The show didn’t just bring back the original cast of Star Trek: The Next Generationbut it also included performances by others star trek Characters from across the franchise. The Star Trek: Picard Of course, the writers couldn’t include everyone they wanted, but they seriously considered including Jake Sisko (Cirroc Lofton), son of Deep Space Nine Captain Benjamin Sisko.
Star Trek: Picard Showrunner Terry Matalas made an appearance The 7th rule Podcast (h/t ScreenRant) moderated by Cirroc Lofton and Ryan T. Husk to discuss how Jake Sisko should fit into the story. “We had a lot of Jake talks in the Season 3 writers’ room. And one of the ideas was… Because Season 3 is a conspiracy and people like Ro Laren and our heroes realize that Changelings have infiltrated Starfleet… There’s actually a moment where Ro Laren says, “I even tried to go to the press go.” That was Jake Sisko,“Matalas explained.
Unfortunately, they just didn’t have the money to do it, as Jake Sisko’s story just kept expanding the more they worked on it. “You’d move on to Jake Sisko, this journalist who’s starting to put something together… whose specialty is Starfleet, obviously because of his background, and that’s his focus.‘ Matalas said. “He realizes that weird shit is going on. Things are reported but then dismissed. It covers Frontier Day, but there are a lot of things about it that don’t make sense. And as he goes down the rabbit hole, he begins to figure out what’s going on.” The Star Trek: Picard The showrunner admitted that Jake Sisko’s story became its own series and they realized they couldn’t take it on. Matalas ended up pitching the concept as a podcast, but hopes they can bring Jake back one day.
