Police release body camera footage from Chris Olave’s arrest

Kenner police released body camera footage from Chris Olave’s arrest Monday night during a traffic stop, which was a strange act; Kenner PD had not posted videos to its official YouTube account in the five years prior, nor had it ever shared footage of an arrest in this manner.

Perhaps it’s due to Chris Olave’s status as a public figure and member of the New Orleans Saints, with Kenner PD trying to make the incident more visible. If that’s the case, the arresting officer was unimpressed when Olave addressed his place on the team during the traffic stop.

“I play for the Saints, man,” Olave volunteered.

The officer replied, “So?”

Olave was taken to the Kenner City Jail where he was arrested and released without issue. Additionally, Kenner PD said in a news release that this is Olave’s second ticket in recent months, after he was pulled over for driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone on Aug. 21.
