A Portrush man appeared in court today accused of assaulting and threatening his ex-partner.
Appearing at Coleraine Magistrates Court via videolink from prison, 28-year-old Wesley Moore McLucas confirmed he was aware of the eight charges against him, all allegedly committed within two days between February 1 and 2 this year had been.
McLucas, listed as c/o Maghaberry Prison but previously from Skerrymor Place in the port city, faces two counts of breaching a restraining order, two counts of threatening to damage property, two counts of common assault and single charges face charges of theft and criminal damage.
The facts of the case have not been disclosed, but the details of the offenses allege that McLucas violated the restraining orders by “using violence against and making personal contact with the alleged victim” and threatening to destroy her home and that of her mother , who was still carrying her cell phone, destroyed the phone and that he damaged two televisions.
A prosecution lawyer there filed a prima facie case against McLucas, which was conceded by the 28-year-old’s lawyer, while the defendant himself declined to exercise his right to respond to the charges or provide evidence on his own behalf .
District Judge Peter King remanded McLucas back in custody and referred the case to Antrim Crown Court for trial, but did not set a arraignment date.
