Prince Harry His father was reportedly “angry”. King Charles told him he couldn’t pay Megan Markle in the future. a new book, our kingby the respected royal chronicler Robert Jobson reveals that after Harry told Charles and Prince William He will marry Meghan, asked William: “Are you sure, Harold?”
Then, after an excerpt in the Daily MailAlongside Camilla, William and Kate and their children, Charles delivered the “bombshell” he “couldn’t pay for Meghan going forward.” An “angry” Harry already thought William disapproved of Meghan and thought their relationship had turned into a “hurricane affair,” Jobson writes. Meghan thought Kate was “distant” from her. Kate then demanded an apology after Meghan said Kate may have “baby brains” – ahead of their now infamous row over bridesmaid dresses for Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
Harry and Meghan called Charles’ Bluff about Princess Lilibet – and won
The Queen herself witnessed a “fleeting exchange” between William and Harry, Jobson writes, believing Harry and Meghan to be “pretty crazy.” Her criticism of the family made the late monarch “tired”, although she retained “great affection” for Harry.
Jobson writes this In January 2020, at the ‘Megxit’ summit in Sandringham, which discussed Harry and Meghan’s exit terms from their roles as senior royals, the Queen had the room ‘bug-swept’ as she was concerned about the possibility of press leaks of talks between them hers was , Charles, William and Harry.
The Queen also ruled out Meghan taking part in the discussion. Jobson writes: “There was a suggestion that Meghan should join Charles, William and Harry via video link from Canada, but the Queen decided that her presence in any form was ‘not necessary’ as Harry would represent her. It was also believed that a video link would not be secure as Charles and William could not tell if the meeting was being recorded or if Meghan had someone else listen in while they spoke.”
Jobson writes that following the allegations and revelations made by Harry and Meghan in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey — including the fact that a senior royal questioned the skin tone of their then-unborn child — Charles and William decided they weren’t alone with Harry could be.
“William went to his father and told him that the royal family needed a clear strategy in dealing with the renegade kings,” Jobson writes. “Carl agreed. From then on, Harry’s father and brother decided they would no longer treat him as a trusted – if often annoying – member of the family. In short, they would never meet Harry alone again. There should always be one other person in the room.”
A senior source in the royal household told Jobson: “They were both deeply disappointed in him. He had neither the right nor the authority to speak on her behalf.” The Queen thought that Harry, who was “so consumed” with love for Meghan, “clouded his judgement”. The Queen felt “abandoned” by Harry’s stepping down as senior royal and saw his and Meghan’s departure as a “missed opportunity”.

Jobson writes that Harry was on the phone regularly with the Queen. She hoped he had found “peace and happiness” but the monarch felt “disturbed” when Harry asked her to voice his grievances and told him to speak to Charles directly – even if, as Harry told Oprah, his father stopped answering his calls.
Queen Elizabeth was reportedly “surprised” after suggesting that Meghan turn to Sophie, Countess of Wessex – Prince Edward’s wife – for support. Meghan replied, “I have Harry.” Jobson writes our king, The post reportsthat the incident took place during a face-to-face meeting between the two women, where the late Queen “warmly welcomed Meghan into the family,” Jobson wrote, where she told Meghan she was “so pleased Harry had finally found love.”
In November 2016, Harry released a strongly worded statement denounce the media and the online harassment of Meghan out of fear for her safety, he said. “Some of it was very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racist overtones of comments; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and comments on web articles.”
Jobson writes this Charles, who was in Bahrain on a Foreign Office-sponsored visit to the Gulf States, was “disappointed at what he saw as his son’s bad manners” when it caught attention from him. “He would never have done anything like that if the Queen was on tour,” a former staffer told Jobson. “Understandably there is a hierarchy and a grid system, but Prince Harry seemed to think that when it came to Meghan Markle, she would always come first.” William was said to have been “restless” and privately thought his brother had “overreacted.”
