To parasite Bong Joon-ho, who took home Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards, is poised to release his sequel to the acclaimed film. Warner Bros. Pictures announced the release date for Mickey 17a sci-fi film based on the novel starring Robert Pattinson (The Batman). Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton.

Mickey 17 is currently in production and is set to hit theaters worldwide March 29, 2024. It’s a bit of a wait, but the release of the next Bong Joon-ho movie will no doubt be worth it. A short one teasers was also released and features Robert Pattinson in a sort of sci-fi apperatus.

Plot details above Mickey 17 are kept under wraps, but the novel is about Mickey7, who is an Expendable: an expendable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world of Niflheim. “Whenever there is a mission that is too dangerous – even suicidal – the crew turns to Mickey,” reads a description. “After an iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of its memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal… and why it was the only vacant colonial position when he took it.

In addition to Robert Pattinson, Mickey 17 also plays Steven Yeun (Minari), Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Tony Collette (Hereditary) and Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame). The film is directed, written and produced by Bong Joon-ho. Pattinson recently starred in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and is expected to reprise the role for the upcoming sequel. The Batman2 is still in its infancy, but with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over the DC Universe and laying out a multi-year plan, it’s unclear if anything about the sequel will change.
