Rockport launches a line of comfort-based golf shoes – WWD

Count Rockport as the latest heritage footwear brand to break into the red hot golf business.

Based in Newton, Massachusetts, the company launched Rockport Golf, a high-performance, weatherproof collection for men and women. The shoes are spikeless, allowing them to be worn both on and off court, and feature the brand’s comfort-based Total Motion technology and TruStride ProWalker construction, which provide stability and traction on grass, sand or pavement should offer.

“For 50 years, Rockport has been an innovator in comfort technology, and with our new Rockport Golf Collection, we’re taking everything we’ve learned and applying it to this new and booming footwear category,” said Steven Holt, brand president of The Rockport Group . “With the development of Rockport Golf, we are able to offer everyday golfers a supportive, stylish and most importantly, comfortable golf shoe that will keep up with them from the first swing to the 19th shotth Hole.”

The men’s range includes two models: a Total Motion Links with sealed seams and a built-in waterproof membrane, available in three styles: lace-to-toe, cap toe and wingtip, and the Total Motion Ace with truTech cushioning for shock absorption and hydro -Shield+ technology available in white with navy blue or lime green accents or in black.

The shoes feature the brand’s proprietary comfort technology.

There are also three women’s models of the TrueStride ProWalker II Golf which, in addition to an activSole, also have the Hydro-Shield. These come in three styles: Kiltie, Tassel, and Lace-to-Toe.

The collection retails for $150-$170 and is available on the company’s website.
