Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber Review: Here’s the gist

When I say I’ve tried everything to clean my white grout, I mean it everything. Baking soda concoctions, commercial cleaning products—even my loved ones The pink stuff. And while the latter is one of my favorite methods for many other cleaning tasks, none of these methods were able to get rid of the orange hue my grout had taken on. I had just lost hope when I discovered this Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber, a type of electric toothbrush-style cleaning device that delivers more power than manual scrubbing. Thought it couldn’t hurt to put it to the test, right? Well, here is my review:

A cleaning tool that gets the job done faster And give my arms a break? Um, yes please!

I bought a house a few years ago and quickly learned that having white grout in the bathroom is no mean feat. The previous owners had caused it to turn an unsightly orange color in many places and I was ignorant and assumed that with some baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and some elbow grease there would be a quick fix. Incorrect! My grout had been stained for too long for home remedies to have had any effect. I’ve tried other commercial cleaners and scrubbed as hard as I could but left the same rusty grout every time.

Then I remembered hearing about a nifty little tool called the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber, which is hugely popular with Yahoo readers (and is Amazon’s #1 selling tile grout cleaner). Having used an electric toothbrush for ages, I knew that a motorized cleaning device could give better results than manual methods, so I decided to give it a try. It’s virtually water-resistant and features a small brush head designed to fit into tight corners and small spaces – think crevices, faucets, window edges and tire crevices. I also knew that my own hands couldn’t match the ability to scrub 60 times per second!

When I arrived I was delighted to find that it came with AA batteries so it was ready to use right out of the box. (I love it when that happens!) The soft-grip handle made it comfortable to hold, and as someone new to electronics, I appreciated its user-friendly design—there are only two modes: heart rate and continuous scrubbing.

Now to test my grout. I had bought some highly rated ones grout cleaner To try it along with the Rubbermaid scrubber, I sprayed some and waited a few minutes according to the directions. Then, holding my breath, I turned on my battery-powered last hope and laid the bristles against the grout. It sounds like I’m joking, but I kid you not – the orange stains literally disappeared before my eyes and after just a few seconds of buffing. What?! I’ve never had such a “Where has that been all my life” moment before because the task I’d tried to do by hand so many times before was tackled by this little one like it was nothing gizmo. Actually pretty humiliating.

Now that I’ve seen the wonders Rubbermaid Reveal suitable for dirty grout; I use it for pretty much any cleaning job that involves scrubbing. Why put my arm through an intense workout when this machine can do a better job in less time? It is also – dare I say it – Fun use? Plus, I can use it to get into all those nooks and crannies of my house that have probably (definitely) been neglected — look at you, fridge gaskets.

This stuff is real, I tell you. I love that no mixing is required and you only have to leave it on for 1-3 minutes to get great results. The fumes are a little strong so you might want to wear a mask if you’re not near a window, but I’ll buy this on repeat.
