Street style at New York Fashion Week confirmed the city’s status as a fashion capital.

This year, neutral colors — including brown, beige, tan, cream, black and white — topped the color palettes of many Fashion Week attendees, and also showed up in stylish trench coats, over-the-top fur coats and chic blazers as wide Utility style trousers.

At the opposite end of the color spectrum, some contestants stepped out in fiery red — a color Rihanna had recently made everyone’s lips after the “Umbrella” singer’s halftime performance — complete with an oversized heart-shaped purse, a Chanel caviar crossbody bag, and gold-tone hardware , a Prada down coat with a cropped length, an off-the-shoulder red long-sleeve top, and multicolored double-waisted jeans. A pop of barbiecore pink also showed up.

However, warmer temperatures prompted many Fashion Week attendees to don shorter tops. Standout pieces include a navy and beige knitted crop top paired with a matching cropped cardigan and a plain white crop top paired with an abstract statement blue cardigan. In keeping with the unusually warm weather, many participants also wore denim jackets over T-shirts.

Straight-leg jeans were a staple on the streets of New York, with attendees showing up in a high-waisted Chanel jean, purple jean that added a pop of color to the scene, and a range of light and dark washes for upscale streetwear -Looks. Head-to-toe denim looks featured a jacket and jeans combo in a dark wash and a similar ensemble in a medium wash, as well as a denim shirt tucked into wide-leg jeans and topped with a denim duster.

Frayed denim was another star, with contestants wearing maxi skirts, mid-length skirts, a pair of wide-leg jeans with a side slit, and a cropped denim jacket, all sporting the unfinished treatment.
