Seven cars to be discontinued in 2023 as a new major car trend takes off

CAR MANUFACTURERS have confirmed their lineups for 2023 so drivers can see which vehicles are in and which aren’t.
And as US consumers continue to lean towards SUVs, several passenger models are heading towards the chopping block.
VW Passat
Volkswagen turned heads when they announced they were discontinuing their Passat SUV more than thirty years after its debut.
The Passat is a five-seater mid-size sedan that was offered in a limited edition in 2022.
In 1973, Volkswagen made limited edition copies of its Passat and equipped the model with practical technical functions such as parking assistant.
Kelley Blue Book gave the Passat 2.0T Limited Edition 2022 a rating of 4.4 out of five stars.

Acura ILX
Acura’s ILX is a mid-size five-passenger sedan that was released in 2013 as the manufacturer’s entry-level model.
Acura hasn’t given the ILX a significant redesign since its debut.
The Integra was billed as Acura’s replacement for the ILX.
Acura spokesman Chris Naughton said, “The new Integra was designed from day one to continue the original lineage that began with the Integra in 1986. It’s a continuation of that formula that brought so many first-time buyers into the Acura family and will be the new entry point for the brand.” engine1 reports.
Toyota Avalon
Toyota’s Avalon has been around since the mid-1990s, but the model will soon be phased out in favor of the manufacturer’s 2023 Crown.
The 2023 Crown will be a $39,950 full-featured semi-luxury family vehicle with a design that blends sedan and SUV elements.
Hyundai accent
Hyundai dropped its compact Accent car to make more room for models joining its expanded 2023 SUV lineup like The Venue, United States today reports.
A 2022 Hyundai Accent starts at $16,645 — but a Venue SUV starts at $19,500.
Honda Insight
Honda will drop the Insight to focus on its core hybrid models like the new Civic Hybrid.
The Japanese automaker has sold over 70,000 units since its debut in 2018.
Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet’s Spark ultra-compact passenger van ceased production in August. Edmunds reports.
The Spark was previously one of the cheapest cars on the market, starting at $14,595.
Buick Encore
While US consumers are turning away from passenger cars, not all SUVs are safe.
Buick won’t be selling its Encore SUV in 2023 as sales of the car fell nearly 42% from January through September. General Motors reports.

However, Buick will be selling its similarly sized Encore GX for $27,590 throughout 2023.
The Encore GX is similar in size to its non-GX counterpart and offers a mid-range model with 18-inch wheels.
