Shannen Doherty is filing for divorce after 11 years of marriage
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Actress Shannen Doherty of the hit series ‘Charmed’ and ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ has filed for divorce from her husband Kurt Iswarienko after 11 years of marriage, her rep says.
“Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted,” publicist Leslie Sloane said in an emailed statement on Saturday. “Unfortunately, she felt she had no other choice.”
In early 2020, Doherty, now 52, revealed she was battling a recurrence of stage four breast cancer, calling it “a bitter pill to swallow.”
“I definitely have days where I’m like, ‘Why me?’ And then I’m like, ‘Well, why not me? Who else? Who but me deserves this?’ None of us do,” Doherty told Good Morning America.
The actress first announced she had breast cancer in 2015 and has chronicled her battle with the disease on social media.
Doherty didn’t reference the divorce development on Instagram, but wrote in a post on Friday, “The only people who deserve to be in your life are those who treat you with love, kindness and absolute respect.”
In October 2021, a federal jury in Los Angeles awarded Doherty $6.3 million in a lawsuit alleging State Farm, her insurance carrier, failed to adequately pay for damage to her home in a 2018 California wildfire . The jury found the failure to pay insurance on Doherty’s Malibu home “unreasonable and without good cause.”
In her statement, Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, suggested contacting Iswarienko’s agent for more information, who identified her as Collier Grimm. Grimm did not immediately respond to a message for comment.
