Shop for curios and antiques at Laurel Hill Cemetery’s annual Market of the Macabre

With a scorching heatwave sweeping Philadelphia this week, it might be too early to wear a cape. But it’s not too early to buy one.
The seventh annual Macabre Market returns this Saturday at Laurel Hill Cemetery. 70 local shops and artists sell all sorts of bizarre treasures. Between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., vendors will be stationed near the gatehouse, accessible via the Ridge Avenue entrance to the cemetery.

In addition to witch jewelry and ceramic skulls, drinks will also be available for purchase at a Philadelphia Brewing Company & Commonwealth Cider beer garden.
Other celebrations include circus performances, a meeting with some of Pennsylvania Bat Rescue’s educational animals, and a Victorian literary salon with Edgar Allan Poe, who appears to be back in Philadelphia after a 173-year stint in a Baltimore grave.
No cars will be allowed on the cemetery grounds during the event, but will be permitted in the parking lots directly across from the entrance and at 3747 Ridge Ave. there is limited free parking available. Ghouls, fiends and all their fans can buy tickets online for $5. or $10 at the gate.
