Snoop Dogg Returns Death Row Catalog To Streaming Services Label To Sign New Artists In Partnership With Larry Jackson’s Gamma

Death Row Records catalog has officially returned to music streaming services.
Last year Snoop Dogg acquired the Death Row brand from MNRK Music Group and subsequently closed a deal to buy the label’s record catalogue.

Last month, TikTok partnered with Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records to bring the record label’s catalog to ByteDance’s own app via its independent distribution platform SoundOn, and stream the catalog exclusively on TikTok for a week.
At the time, Snoop said the catalog “will be back on streaming services very soon,” and on Thursday (March 9) that day came.
Snoop Dogg revealed in a tweet that the “Death Row Records catalog is back streaming everywhere tonight at 9pm pst”.
The catalog’s return to streaming services comes in the same week that it emerged that among a slew of deals signed by Gamma – the new $1 billion-backed company of former Apple Music global creative director Larry Jackson – have completed a partnership with Snoop Dogg and The Death Row Catalogue.
According to an announcement by Gamma and Snoop Dogg on Friday (March 10), Death Row Records’ catalogue, including music and videos, has officially returned to all streaming services worldwide.
Gamma says the partnership “is conceived as a long-term licensing agreement giving Gamma exclusive worldwide rights to market and distribute the Death Row Records catalogue.”
Vydia, a distribution and services company founded by Roy LaManna and recently acquired by gamma, will distribute the music exclusively.
In addition, Gamma will also be releasing two new Snoop Dogg albums. The partnership also sees Death Row becoming an active label again, with Gamma and Snoop Dogg planning to sign new artists to Death Row Records.
According to a media statement, Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records in February 2022 and removed it from all DSPs “in a strategic move to organize rights and correct royalty payout.”
The statement adds, “As he orchestrated the next steps for Death Row Records’ catalog and legacy, he found a partner in Gamma co-founder and CEO Larry Jackson.”
Gamma and Snoop say that “as a marketing driver” they “provided a selection of classic songs from the catalogue exclusively for TikTok, which gave fans the power to edit videos, resulting in millions of uses and further increasing the thirst for the influential music.”
Founded in Los Angeles, California in 1991, Death Row Records quickly became one of hip hop’s most recognizable and influential labels.

The reintroduced catalog includes Snoop’s doggystyle, the dog dad, 2 packs All eyes on me, Tha Dogg Pounds Dog Foodand soundtracks for Over the Edge And Murder was the case among other.
