Sporting KC spoils the playoff start in St. Louis, CITY loses 1:4

ST. LOUIS – The first playoff game in St. Louis CITY SC history ended in defeat. Sporting Kansas City spoiled the game with a 4-1 road win against its I-70 rival.
Sporting KC took advantage of their chances early, scoring three goals in about fifteen minutes midway through the first half. Their fourth goal came from a corner kick, giving them three tied points.
Tim Parker helped CITY respond quickly after the first goal, scoring in the 28th minute. He has now secured a place in history with the franchise’s first goals in the regular season and playoffs.
Next, Sporting and St. Louis travel to Kansas City for the second game in the best-of-three playoff round. With a win, Sporting would advance to the semifinals of the Western Conference. CITY would force a winner-take-all third game if they emerge victorious. If not, their inaugural season is over.
