Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 Release Time and Plot Recap

At first, Ahsoka is concerned about training Grogu because of his emotional bond with Djarin, but agrees to help him if Djarin helps her bring down Calodan’s repressive magistrate. The two succeed in liberating the city, but Ahsoka still refuses to train Grogu herself because, as a former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, she has seen what strong emotional connections with powerful Jedi can do. Instead, she gives Djarin the Magistrate’s Beskar Spear and tells him about an ancient seeing stone on the planet Tython that will allow Grogu to use the Force to call upon any Jedi willing to train him.

Though it takes Grogu a minute to use his powers, he is able to reach out with the Force before being kidnapped by Gideon. After Djarin and the others defeat Gideon, Imperial Dark Troopers threaten to ruin the happy father and son reunion. Djarin may have flung them into space, but these are some strong robots and they made it onto the bridge of Gideon’s cruiser.

But just as things are looking bleak, an X-wing appears with none other than Luke Skywalker (computer-generated Mark Hamill) on board. He takes out the Dark Troopers with ease before offering to train Grogu at his new Jedi Academy. Grogu is worried at first and doesn’t want to leave Mando behind, but Djarin removes his helmet to reassure the child that he is safe and that this is for the best of him.

The Book of Boba Fett (aka The Mandalorian 2.5)

After helping Djarin save Grogu from Gideon in Season 2 The Mandalorian, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) have returned to Tatooine to take over the empire from Jabba the Hutt. Meanwhile, Djarin finds the remaining members of his clan on the Glavis Ringworld space station. There he shows the Darksaber to the Armorer and requests that the Beskar Spear be melted down into armor suitable for his young foundling. Djarin is struggling to train to fight the Darksaber, so his clanmate Paz Vizsla (Jon Favreau) takes the opportunity to challenge Djarin to a fight. Vizsla is a descendant of Darksaber creator Tarre Vizsla, so he considers the weapon his birthright.

Djarin defeats Vizsla but is kicked out of his clan after revealing to them that he took off his helmet. The armorer called him a “renegade” and sent him on his journey. The only way to welcome him back to the clan is to bathe in the “living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore”. It seems like Season 3 will revolve around this pilgrimage.

Without a ship, his child, or a clan, Djarin travels to Tatooine on a commercial starship in hopes that Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) can help him find a replacement for the Razor Crest. The pair finish repairing an old Naboo N-1 Starcruiser when Fennec Shand arrives to ask Djarin for help in Fett’s upcoming war against the Pykes. He agrees to help, but first he wants to get the armor to Grogu.
