Stephen King documentary set for theatrical release

Dark Star Pictures has acquired the North American rights to Stephen King’s documentary film King on Screen and is planning a theatrical release
Brian de Palma got the ball rolling with his film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel carrie…and since then, over fifty filmmakers have taken the helm on more than eighty film and television adaptations of King. The many adaptations of King’s work are the focus of the King-sanctioned documentary king on screenDirector: Daphne Baiwir (The rebellious Olivia De Havilland) that we heard about as it geared up for its Fantastic Fest premiere last year. Now meeting reports that Dark Star Pictures has acquired the distribution rights for North America king on screen. They plan to give the documentary a theatrical release sometime in the year late summerwith a digital release to follow in the fall.
With a running time of 105 minutes, king on screen offers A look at the majority of directors who have adapted his work for the screen to show this unique relationship. Pictured is Frank Darabont, leader of The Shawshank Redemption, as well as Mick Garris, Mike Flanagan, Greg Nicotero and more.
