Suspect in custody after Miami police chase ends in foot pursuit – NBC 6 South Florida

A police chase and foot pursuit ended with the arrest of a man on Friday after authorities said a suspect involved in a domestic dispute and another incident fled from officers in Key Biscayne.

Footage showed Miami authorities chasing a black BMW SUV before the driver got out at the 17th Avenue ramp of the Dolphin Expressway and fled on foot.

Key Biscayne police officers said they were involved in the chase, which began in the city of Miami with a domestic incident that may have involved gun threats in the area of ​​Northwest 12th Street and 7th Avenue.

The suspect then drove to Key Biscayne and threatened the father of the domestic incident victim at a restaurant on Crandon Boulevard, police said.

He left a suitcase with a rifle inside and fled when police responded, officials said.

A chase ensued and at one point the suspect crashed into a Key Biscayne officer’s vehicle, but the officer was fine, officials said.

Police lost the suspect at US 1 and Southwest 3rd Avenue, but were found shortly thereafter.

The suspect’s SUV was seen crashing into the guardrail on the freeway ramp before footage showed him jumping out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

A short time later, footage showed police holding the suspect in custody not far from where he exited the SUV.
