Suspect wanted, man dead after being shot multiple times in Wilton Manors home – NBC 6 South Florida

Detectives are investigating after a man was shot and killed at a home in Wilton Manors Sunday evening.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of Northwest 28th Court.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said Wilton Manors police officers responded and upon arrival found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not released the man’s identity, but friends identified him as 44-year-old Arland Cata. The friends said Cata, who was driving the air conditioner, may have been shot in front of his teenage daughter.

Videos taken from outside the home showed multiple bullet holes in the home’s windows and walls.

Neighbors told NBC6 they heard about 14 gunshots and shortly after saw a white SUV fleeing the scene.

“At first I was a little scared because I didn’t know what was going on,” said Charles Fencher, who heard the shots. “That’s never happened here and I’ve been here since 1993. “When you hear gunshots on my street, it shocked me a little.”

Several neighbors also told NBC6 that the house was busy, with people coming and going and buying and selling goods.

Investigators did not comment on the activity around the home and did not release any additional information about the victim.

No arrests have been made at this time, but anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
