Designers Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell’s collection also demonstrated their ability to create nostalgic, vintage-inspired styles that resonate with a wide range of today’s consumers.
CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Tanner Fletcher’s designers tapped into their Victorian aesthetic for spring, creating a range that ranged from ’90s romantic comedy styles to bridal to quintessential Upper East Side-meets -Bushwick design of the designer rich mood. They presented their collection in a beauty pageant-like setting where models were introduced by a presenter and walked the catwalk to showcase their personalities as well as the brand’s collection.
“We really take in a touch of different eras,” Richie said. “We don’t just stick to Victorian or ’70s style. We take a little bit of our favorite pieces from everything because I think when you say “nostalgic” people are like, “What era are you talking about?” It’s really just a feeling. We just want you to feel like this gives you a little bit of warmth.”
As the brand has become a new bridal destination, Tanner Fletcher’s spring collection featured more pieces in the category that leveraged its already tried-and-true codes. These styles included reinterpretations of the brand’s signature bow-embellished suit, ethereal ruffled pieces and different ways to style a garter belt, which designers highlighted as a key look this season.
The designers combined a vintage and modern vibe with floral prints and Victorian-style ruffles on flowing blouses and slinky dresses. Highlights included sequined dresses in a soft purple floral print, a dusty purple slip dress and knitwear with crocheted floral patterns.
Overall, the collection showcased Tanner Fletcher’s ability to create sophisticated and elevated vintage-inspired clothing that feels modern and contemporary.
