“Thank god you waited” after arriving an hour and a half late for the Met Gala
Musician Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were the last to arrive at the 2023 Met Galaalmost an hour and a half late.
They followed the arrival of Cardi B, who walked across the carpet at about 8:45 p.m. ET, according to the TODAY.com team on the ground. Rihanna and A$AP arrived at 10:15pm ET.
The livestream hosts, operated by Vogue, tried “tap dancing,” as the store says, until they arrived, but had to finish the live show before the two arrived.
At one point during the wait, photographers even jokingly took pictures Photos of a cockroach scurry across the beige-red carpet.
However, the couple eventually made it and climbed the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Fashion reported that Rihanna wore a custom-made Valentino couture gown and a silk faille cape adorned with more than 30 fabric camellias, each containing 500 petals.
The cloak, about 5 feet long, also covered her head. The Fenty creator also wore white sunglasses with lashes for effect.
As she walked up the stairs, Rihanna removed the cape to wear around her shoulders and smiled for the cameras. Once she put her hands on her growing baby bump.
The singer stopped to speak with the TODAY team.
“Wow, thank god I came!” she quipped as she passed.
Rihanna, who is also a mother to an almost 1-year-old son, first showed off her baby bump during her performance at the Super Bowl in February. Shortly thereafter, her reps confirmed that she and A$AP were expecting their second child together.
She never shys away from showing off her baby bump, on Sunday she posted a photo of herself in a feathery white mini dress.
“Not even Monday,” she captioned the post, referring to the Met Gala, also known as the first Monday in May.
Rihanna also rocked a see-through leather dress at the Oscars in March.
Later during the show, she changed into a glittery bustier with sheer fabric over her baby bump to perform.
She first revealed her current pregnancy when she appeared in a red bodysuit during the Super Bowl.
