The 39 House Republicans who voted in favor of the same-sex marriage bill

WASHINGTON — Legislative legislation recognizing federal same-sex marriages was approved by Congress Thursday after passing both houses with bipartisan support.
While the crucial breakthrough came in the Senate, where Democrats needed Republican support to move the measure forward, they welcomed a larger-than-expected group of House Republicans to the House over the summer. Ultimately, a smaller number supported its final passage Thursday, and it passed by a vote of 258 to 169, with one vote “present.”
Eight Republicans who supported the law in July gave up on Thursday. Representative Cliff Bentz of Oregon; Florida’s Mario Diaz-Balart, Brian Mast and Maria Salazar; Dan Meuser and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania; and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey changed their votes to “No.” Utah Rep. Burgess Owens, who supported the bill over the summer, changed his position to present.
Here are the 39 Republicans who voted “Yes,” with asterisks marking the two who changed their votes after opposing it over the summer.
