The Arkansas Razorbacks are offering Houston a transfer of OL Cam’Ron Johnson

The Hogs may still be looking for at least one more offensive lineman in the transfer portal when spring training began Thursday, and they recently offered a portal entry in former Houston offensive lineman Cam’Ron Johnson.
Johnson, who is 6ft 4 and weighs 305 pounds, spent four seasons with the Cougars, wearing his freshman year as a redshirt and appearing in a total of 24 games during his career. He was a first-team pick in the All-American Athletic Conference last season.
The Houston, Texas native entered the transfer portal on Wednesday and promptly picked up offers from Arkansas, South Carolina, West Virginia, California and Maryland.
Johnson is an internal offensive lineman, a position Pittman said will need more depth heading into the 2023 season.
“I’d like to see another player who can grab the ball offensively,” Pittman said at the start of the early signing period in December. “We may have to find another one. When we lost guys last year, a bunch of those guys could break. Obviously Ricky played in the middle but Jones was able to snap. And that’s why we have to keep looking at that on offense.
Last season, according to Pro Football Focus, Johnson played 905 total snaps and ranked 197th among guards with an offensive aggregate score of 65.2, a pass block score of 79.4 and a run block score of 63. 3. According to his Houston profile, he only allowed one sack of 556 opportunities.
The Hogs already have an offensive lineman in this year’s transfer class at Florida transfer Joshua Braun, who is on campus and with the team for spring training.
