The documentary hits digital and VOD next month

Uncork’d Entertainment has released a trailer for the documentary Back to the Drive-In, out next month digitally and on VOD

I love watching movies in drive-in cinemas – actually, if I had to choose between an indoor cinema or a drive-in cinema, I would mostly choose the drive-in cinema. It’s very hard to beat the ability to watch two movies for the price of one from the comfort of your car. And given my appreciation for the drive-in experience (and for drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs), I’m glad to see that Uncork’d Entertainment will be making a drive-in tribute documentary titled Back to the drive in a digital and VOD release the 14th of Marchth. You can watch a trailer for the documentary in the embed above.

Directed by April Wright Back to the drive in has the following summary: BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN takes viewers behind the scenes to visit 11 unique family-owned drive-ins across the country – including LA’s Mission Tiki, Field of Dreams drive-in and Cape Cod’s Wellfleet – to see them experience passion and determination to keep their theaters alive. It is a story of human resilience.

The documentary previously had a theatrical release where it ran in many drive-in theaters and received some rave reviews. Interviewees in the documentary include D. Edward Vogel, Dwight Grimm and Leigh Van Swall.

While I enjoy watching newly released movies at the drive-in, I’ve also been able to attend some nighttime classic horror movie marathons at the drive-in, and it was really fun to be a part of. Especially since the drive-ins I went to allowed customers to bring their dogs, so I could watch great movies from my car and enjoy delicious food from the concession stand while my dogs chilled in the car with me the whole time.
