An autobody shop has shared a fascinating video showing an outdated Lexus sedan getting its first wash in a decade.

And The US Sun spoke exclusively to a technician about the likely formula used to clean the dirty Japanese model.

This video was posted by WD Detailing and showed a gray first generation Lexus SC model and the car cleaning results are truly shocking.

Speaking to The US Sun, Rex Beck, a former professional auto detailer at Diamond Detail in Maryland, said: “Japanese cars are notoriously thinner paints, so you should be gentler with them.”

After applying a car wash solution to the exterior of the Lexus, this TikTok’s technician uses a pressure washer to spray water on the vehicle.

When water hits the exterior of this car, dirt and grime will flow over the vehicle, resulting in a better representation of the Lexus’ solid gray color.

Viewers of this TikTok were curious to see what kind of cleaning solution the technician of this video applied to the Lexus before rinsing.

One TikTok user commented, “What chemical do you pump on?

“I can hardly find one that effectively eats through insect splashes. lol.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “Most likely APC [all-purpose cleaner] or degreaser. It cleans very well but also removes waxes/protectors from your paint.”

“APC simply means all-purpose cleaner, so it’s a ‘simple green’ product. APC will not affect the clear coat,” Beck told The US Sun.

“I think APC could remove the previous wax from the car, but you would never use an APC to clean your car.”

Beck added: “It’s just not necessary. When I was doing the car detailing, we used the APC on the front bumper and underside of the car to remove road grime and insect guts.”

While the initial condition of this sedan’s exterior is reminiscent of a junkyard find, the final product ultimately looks ready to be sold on a used car lot.

Other viewers felt nostalgic about the video’s first-generation Lexus SC model.
