For decades, viewers have been divided over writer/director Meir Zarchi’s 1978 film I spit on your grave (Look at it HERE). Some write it off as reprehensible garbage. Some – including legendary drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs – think it’s a revenge thriller worth watching. The film has developed a cult following, and now the folks at Printed in Blood, an art book publisher, have announced that they will be celebrating the 45th anniversary of I spit on your grave by releasing a collector’s edition I spit on your grave. script book!

Also known as women’s day, I spit on your grave plays Camille Keaton as a young woman who is brutally attacked by a group of men and left to die. Then she sets out to take revenge on her attackers. Zarchi said he was inspired to make the film after helping a woman who was attacked in a New York park. His goal was “to make a film that shows the strength and resilience of women after such a horrific act.”

The book celebrates the inclusion of I spit on your grave a.k.a women’s day Film negative, screenplay and artifacts in the permanent film archives of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, thanks to curator Ron Magilozzi. The film is now in addition to other classics such Taxi Driver, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and the Andy Warhol Collection. Meir Zarchi stated, “This film is a milestone in the history of cinema and we are proud that it will remain for future generations.” It cements actress Camille Keaton’s iconic Jennifer Hills role in film history as an enduring legacy.”

The book also contains Zarchi’s original, never-before-seen production script, plus new artwork from international artists, inspired by Camille Keaton’s iconic role as Jennifer Hills, one of cinema’s most resilient final girls. There are Essays by modern and influential film critics such as Siskel & Ebert and Joe Bob Briggs, a historical overview of the film, and a special introduction by Meir Zarchi. In addition to archival photos, the book includes a collectible anthology by film critics Jim Hemphill, Dan Tabor, David Maguire, and Valerie Thompson.
