Three women, Teresa Dinnegan, Cindy Duignan and Annalize Power, are on trial for “violent brawling” at Longford Penneys store

The court had previously heard the alleged incident stemmed from an alleged ongoing feud between rival factions in the city of Longford.
The trio, Teresa Dinnegan, 36, of Grian Ard, Longford, Cindy Duignan, 39, of Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford, and Annalize Power, 26, of The Hollows, Farnagh Hill, Longford, appeared in a Longford District Court hearing this afternoon after a Incident at Penneys, Longford Shopping Center on March 16, 2022.
The case was dropped by Presiding Judge Bernadette Owens last December over delays in obtaining orders from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The court found at the time that there was “no reason” why no instructions had been provided, leading Judge Owens to drop the case at the request of defense counsel for one of the defendants.

However, the court was told the state is now reopening the case and Sgt. Enda Daly informed Judge Owens that all three would be brought to trial.
Ms Dinnegan and Ms Duignan, two sisters, have been charged with assault, harming Ms Power and violent disorder. The former was also charged with surrendering a candlestick in a glass case during an argument.
Her co-defendant, Ms Power, was charged with assault, assaulting Ms Dinnegan, violent disorder and fabricating a knife during the same incident.
Sgt Daly said the DPP had agreed that all three women would be sent forward with a signed request in due course “should it come to that”.
All three were initially charged with assault after a heated argument ensued in front of shocked customers and staff.
One of the defendants, Ms Dinnegan, caused controversy in June after the court agreed to relax her bail so she could fly to Turkey to have cosmetic dental surgery while receiving free legal aid.
The court had previously heard the alleged incident stemmed from an alleged ongoing feud between rival factions in the city of Longford.
Ms Dinnegan and Ms Power were granted legal aid as both women were currently unemployed.
A similar request for Ms. Duignan was reserved to allow a statement of assets to be submitted to the court.
All three were remanded on bail at a Longford Circuit Court session on October 3, where evidence books are expected to be served on each of the defendants.
