Tokyo SOS is coming to US cinemas for the first time

Fathom Events and Toho International are bringing the Godzilla film Godzilla: Tokyo SOS to US theaters for the first time

Back in November, Fathom Events and Toho International teamed up to release the 2002 Godzilla franchise entry Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla hit US theaters for the first time… and now they’re set to do the same for the 2003 Godzilla movie Godzilla: Tokyo SOS! The film will reach 600 theaters in the United States March 22nd.

The one-day event also includes a special exhibition by Godzilla vs Gigan Rexa short film that debuted at the Japan Godzilla Festival 2022 as a short film sequel G vs G (2019) – never seen on the big screen!

Masaaki Tezuka, who co-wrote the screenplay with Masahiro Yokotani, is directing. Godzilla: Tokyo SOS has the following summary: Mothra’s twin fairies appear with a warning to Japan… Kiryu (aka Mechagodzilla) must be buried at the bottom of the ocean or face the wrath of Mothra. When Godzilla returns, will humanity heed the warning or will Kiryu be forced to fight two monsters?

The film stars Noboru Kaneko, Miho Yoshioka, Mitsuki Koga, Masami Nagasawa, Chihiro Otsuka, Hiroshi Koizumi, Yumiko Shaku, Koh Takasugi, Kenta Suga, Akira Nakao, Koichi Ueda, Naomasa Rokudaira and Yūsuke Tomoi, with Tsutomu Kitagawa as Godzilla and Motokuni Nakagawa as Kiryū.

Tezuka previously directed Godzilla vs Megaguirus And Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. Aside from this film, Mimura’s Godzilla script credits are included Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II, Godzilla 2000, Godzilla vs Megaguirus, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, And Godzilla: Final Wars.

A direct sequel to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, Godzilla: Tokyo SOS is an entertaining film with a lot of action in 91 minutes. It’s good to know that it’s finally coming to the big screen in the US
